training characteristics
Increasing positive impact through respecting practical realities and personal preferences.
All our training programmes aim to embody four key characteristics:
1. Small Training Groups: The vast majority of mch training programmes are confined to 10 to 20 participants and there is often more than one trainer and additional support staff. This helps ensure that trainers can give participants the support, attention and time required for effective development.
2. Training by Doing: A core premise of mch training is that it is only by doing that a skill or technique is truly acquired. To facilitate this process, mch aims to incorporate practical exercises and tailored role plays where appropriate. Provided such role plays are delivered by an expert, we have found them to be immensely valuable to a great many participants.
3. Engaging Multiple Learning Styles: mch is aware that people have differing learning preferences (e.g. auditory, visual, kinesthetic, logical etc). Consequently, mch tries to deliver training which recognises these preferences. This can mean delivering sessions outside (weather permitting!), the use of video clips and structured discussions.
4. Recognising the Difference between Training and Learning: Unless participants repeatedly practice the new skills they learn at our training, the skills wither and participants revert to their pre-training behaviour. Consequently, mch designs training programmes which engage participants during a sustained period of time, not just on the training day itself. Such engagement can incorporate sending participants pre-reading, providing email reminders after the training, or ongoing face to face support.
