Overview

Vision

Our vision is to help individuals, teams and organisations fulfil their full potential, so that they can have the positive impact that they want to see in the world.

We aim to achieve our vision by delivering quality, effective and timely training, mentoring and facilitation.

Values

Since being founded in 2005, mch has publicly articulated three core values which support its vision:

  1. Quality: We take pride in our work and are proud of the standards we maintain. A consequence of this value is that we only take on work when we believe we have the expertise and time to do an outstanding job.
  2. Integrity: In our view, integrity involves being true to oneself and to the client. In this respect, we only take on work if we believe it can make a sustained, lasting and distinctive improvement to the client.
  3. Balance: We are mindful that our consultants and clients have a life outside work and that work is rarely, if ever, the most important thing in life. We endeavour to not only respect this view but embrace it.

Since 2005, mch’s founder, Mark Hughes, has increasingly become aware that we only have one set of values. Consequently, mch operates in a way which aligns with all of Mark’s values, not just the three listed above. Approach and Practice

mch has a four-fold approach to business. We believe sustainable success lies in resonance and harmony between:

  1. Providing a great service to clients
  2. Treating people well: those who work for and with us
  3. Having a positive impact on wider society
  4. Minimising mch’s negative environmental impact

Our annual corporate social responsibility reports provide a fuller insight. However, here are some practices we employ to live this four-fold approach:

Providing a Great Service

  • Being feedback hungry

mch invites all its training and facilitation clients to give anonymous feedback on our services. Consequently, we know that since mch was founded in 2005, 98% of clients that have provided feedback have been satisfied or very satisfied with our work, 2% of clients have been neutral, and no clients have been dissatisfied or very dissatisfied.

  • Focussing on continual development

mch staff average over 100 hours of professional development every year. We are continually seeking to improve ourselves, so we can give our best to clients.

Valuing People

The above focus on training shows one way in which the four dimensions interact: as well as improving client service, rich and frequent development opportunities can be highly motivating for staff.

In addition, we focus on:

  • Seeking balance between an employee’s work and the rest of their life

Maximising holidays, minimising weekend working and enabling flexible working patterns where possible, are measures that are monitored just as rigorously as financial ones.

  • Respecting suppliers

We appreciate how crucial cash flow is in business. Consequently, we always endeavour to pay our suppliers promptly.

Assisting Broader Society

At a fundamental level, we aim to assist broader society by working with organisations who are themselves committed to making the world a better place. Other practices include:

  • Volunteering our time and expertise

Each mch staff member averages several days of volunteering each year. This can include volunteering on the front line of the asylum seeker crisis, to helping state school students prepare for job and university interviews.

  • Financial donations

The average FTSE 100 company donates around 2.4% of pre-tax profits each year to charitable organisations. mch aims to exceed this benchmark by several multiples.

Minimising Our Environmental Impact

  • Travelling by train, foot and bicycle rather than plane and car

Accepting remote work opportunities is invariably conditional on being able to travel to the required destination by train, rather than plane. This includes international work. For example, when mch staff accepted an engagement in Spain, it was on the understanding that return travel from England was conducted by train. Where possible, more local travel is conducted by foot and bike.

  • Investing wisely

Finance drives and sustains business. Consequently, ethical and environmental practices largely determine who mch banks with and where it invests its pension funds.
